Terms & Privacy
About
- The Million Second Movie is a public moderated service for publishing short videos as part of a collaborative movie.
- Each submitted video is reviewed before publication.
Terms of Use
- Videos must be between 1 and 20 seconds long.
- For paid submissions, payment purchases publication of the submitted video as part of The Million Second Movie.
- Submitting or paying for a clip does not give the user ownership of the movie or platform.
- By submitting a video, the user confirms that they have all rights and permissions required to use and publish it.
- Submitting a video does not transfer the user's rights in the video to the operator.
- The user grants the operator a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, publish, distribute and promote the video in connection with The Million Second Movie for as long as the video is part of the movie.
- By requesting immediate processing when submitting a clip, the user expressly asks the operator to begin providing the service before the end of any applicable statutory withdrawal period.
- For an approved clip, the service is considered fully performed when the clip is published in the Movie. To the extent permitted by applicable consumer law, the statutory right of withdrawal ends once the service has been fully performed after the user's express request for immediate performance.
- The submitter may request removal of a published clip by contacting info@millionsecondmovie.com. The request should include information sufficient to identify the clip.
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic.
- Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
- The operator may issue private one-time complimentary invitations that allow one clip to be submitted without payment. The same content, licensing and moderation rules apply to complimentary submissions.
Content Rules
- Only video files may be submitted.
- Content must not be illegal under applicable law.
- Content must not infringe copyright, trademarks, privacy or other third-party rights.
- Content must not contain pornography, sexual exploitation, abuse of minors, hateful content, threats, harassment or extreme graphic violence.
- Content must not unlawfully disclose another person's private or identifying information.
- The operator may reject or remove content that violates these rules, applicable law or third-party rights.
- If a paid published video is removed because it violates these rules, the payment is not refunded.
Payments, Rejections & Refunds
- Each started second costs USD 1.
- The final price is shown before payment.
- For paid submissions, the corresponding amount is reserved on the payment card.
- The reserved amount is charged if the video is approved.
- If a paid submission is rejected before publication, the payment authorization is cancelled.
- After publication, payments are non-refundable except where a refund is required by applicable law.
- A later request to remove a published clip does not by itself entitle the user to a refund.
- A complimentary invitation permits one clip to be submitted without payment and becomes unavailable after it is used.
Privacy
- The controller of personal data is the operator identified in the Operator & Contact section below.
- We process data needed to operate the service, including email address where applicable, uploaded video, technical video information such as the original file name, order and transaction data where applicable, and technical and security logs.
- We use this data to provide the service, process payments, moderate and publish content, communicate with users, secure the service and comply with legal obligations.
- Data required to provide the service is processed to perform the contract. Security, moderation and abuse-prevention data may be processed on the basis of legitimate interests, and data is processed where necessary to comply with legal obligations.
- Approved videos are published publicly and may be viewed worldwide. If a video contains identifiable people, the user must have the rights and permissions required for its publication.
- Videos may be automatically analyzed for content moderation. Content requiring further assessment may be reviewed manually.
- We do not store full payment card details. Card data is processed by the payment provider.
- Data may be shared with service providers necessary to operate the website, database, video hosting and delivery, payments and email communication.
- Published videos may be kept for as long as they remain part of The Million Second Movie. Order and payment records, where applicable, are kept for periods required by accounting, tax and other applicable laws. Other personal, technical and security data is kept only for as long as needed for the purposes described above.
- Users may request access to, correction or erasure of their personal data, restriction of processing, or exercise other rights available under applicable data-protection law.
- If we have reasonable doubts about the identity of a person making such a request, we may request information necessary to verify identity.
- Users may lodge a complaint with the competent data-protection supervisory authority.
- For paid submissions, the email address entered at checkout is used as the primary identifier for purchase-related requests. Complimentary submissions do not require an email address; an invitation identifier or other information needed to identify the submission may be processed instead.
Report Content
- Illegal content or content that infringes third-party rights can be reported at info@millionsecondmovie.com.
- A report must include the clip identifier or link, the reason for the report and information needed to assess it.
